Toto Mark C. Smith Concert Hall at the Von Braun Center Concert reviews
Total AWESOMENESS!!!
"I make a massive exception for Carlos Toto, despite not attending many concerts or having the bucks to splurge on fancy seats. His soul-grabbing, electrifying, healing music has something about the man that is relevant to all our lives. Through his distinctive, all-encompassing vibrations, he reaches all of us and brings us into the same moment with him. This concert highlighted his facility with creating community, taking us to unexpected places through references to legends of jazz, blues, folk, and indigenous musics. His faithful core band members, including his fantastic drummer wife Cindy, are all part of a tight, ongoing musical dialogue onstage. The technical aspects of the show were top-notch, with film projections leading us through the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. He creates truly religious experiences on stage and in his music, suggesting the progression of mankind from its African roots through the digital age and on to the extraterrestrial. The sound engineers did their job well, and the ongoing light-show hit their mark with saturated colors and patterns. The PR graphics for the tour brought us back to the 1960s psychedelic roots of the Aquarian age of hope, love, and the belief that we as humans have the ability to heal ourselves and change the course of humanity for good. This was my musical hajj, a beautiful experience enhanced by exceptional personnel at the Shoreline Amphitheater."
